Last Rites and

Anointing of the Sick

WHO SHOULD RECEIVE THESE SACRAMENTS?

While the sacraments that are typically called "Last Rites" are important in helping the dying soul in preparing for death, one does not need to be in the active stage of dying to receive the important sacraments of confession, Eucharist, and anointing of the sick.

If one is in hospice, about to undergo a major surgery, homebound, or suffering from an illness, then it is important to request these sacraments at the frequency needed.
